Our Mission
The mission of the Arthritis Foundation is to improve lives through leadership in the prevention, control, and cure of arthritis and related diseases.

- Arthrits is the leading cause of disability
- Arthritis prevalence increases rapidly from the age of 45, and in most cases is chronic-lasting for life
- Women are affected more often than men. An estimated 41 million women of all ages have arthritis or chronic joint symptoms
- Costs to the U.S. economy more thatn $128 billion annually
- Arthritis affects more than 300,000 children under the age of 16
- An estimated 21% if California's adult population is affected by arthritis (5.382,000 adults)
The Free Clinic Network
The San Diego Area Chapter is the only Arthritis Foundation chapter in the country currently providing a clinic network offering initial diagnostic and follow-up care for individuals with arthritis who have no form of insurance or means of medical care.
Arthritis Self-Help Course
This in-depth program gives people with arthritis the knowledge and skills needed to better manage arthritis. Classes cover ways to reduce pain and stress, cope with fatigue, use medications wisely and benefit from exercise.
