Research Grants

The Arthritis Foundation is the largest private source of local and national research funding for scientists and doctors seeking treatments and cures for arthritis and related diseases.

Almost $800,000 in arthritis research grants have been awarded to local medical and research institutions.  Find out about local research.

Youth Programs

Arthritis affects more than 300,000 children in the United States. The Southern California Chapter sponsors four children's camps that are exclusive to children with arthritis and related diseases.

  • Family Camp, Lake Hughes, California
  • Camp Esperanza, San Bernardino Mountains, California
  • Camp Sol, Southern Nevada
  • Camp Manaolana, Hawaii

These camps provide children with the first opportunity to meet others who share their experiences, and feel stronger and energized as a result.

Young Adult Network: The Young Adult Network is an informal support group designed to meet the needs of young adults (aged 18 to 40 years old) with arthritis or related rheumatic diseases.

Meetings are held in Orange County, San Fernando Valley, and the LA Area, please call (323) 954-5760 ext. 243 for the most updated information.

You can help in the fight to find a cure for arthritis.

For more information about Arthritis Foundation programs and services, please contact the Branch office in your community.

For the Ride of a Lifetime

The Arthritis Foundation's Amgen California Coast Classic Bicycle Tour is a scenic bike tour that shadows the Pacific from San Francisco to Santa Monica.  Rugged coastline, quiet beaches, lighthouses, giant redwood forests, famous wineries and world-class cities are yours to enjoy for each of the tour's eight days. Cyclists begin the 500-mile ride at San Francisco's famous Fisherman's Wharf on October 3 and end triumphantly in Santa Monica on October 10.  Along the way, they are fully supported, being served fantastic meals and staying in stunning overnight locations.  As our cyclists like to say, "This is the ride of a lifetime."

Recruitment for the 2009 California Coast Classic is underway.  To learn more about the 2008 Arthritis Foundation Amgen California Coast Classic Bicycle Tour, please visit www.californiacoastclassic.org.
