Hormone Replacement Therapy Has No Effect on RA

Posted 3/7/08

A multicenter team of investigators evaluated the effects of hormone replacement therapy on women with rheumatoid arthritis.

Of the 27,347 participants of the Women's Health Initiative, 63 existing cases and 105 new cases of RA were identified. There were no statistically significant differences in the risk of developing RA or the severity of RA between those taking postmenopausal hormone replacement therapy and those who did not.
